The Gardenmakers are full members of the following trade associations

The Association of Professional Landscapers

The Gardenmakers have been full members of the Association of Professional Landscapers since 2007.

A branch of the Horticultural Trades Association, The APL is a trade body that promotes the highest of standards within the industry. To become a member a landscaping business needs to have been trading for at least 3 years and go through a rigorous inspection process.

This includes providing 6 separate client references, proving that all health and safety issues are being met, that the business is being professionally run and that workmanship is of a high standard.

Once a business has been accepted it then undergoes annual inspections – one site based and one office based. The vetting process is so rigorous that the APL is the only trade body whose members have automatic acceptance onto the Governments ‘Trademark’ scheme.

The Gardenmakers are very proud of their membership. They prove that we are what we say on the tin. Landscape gardeners who work to the highest of standards in a professional manner.

The Gardenmakers are also very proud to have won 2 of the APL’s finest awards in the last 3 years. In 2009 we scooped the ‘Supreme Garden’ and ‘Best Garden over £50,000’ award and in 2011 we achieved the ‘Best garden over £100,000’ award. Both gardens can be seen in the Galleries section of this website.

Trustmark

TrustMark is a quality mark which operates a framework under which 30 plus scheme operators work in the RMI (repair, maintenance and improvement) sector, including trade associations, local government trading standards teams, and independent scheme operators. These schemes are approved to carry the TrustMark logo and recruit reputable and trustworthy tradesmen. This enables the TrustMark scheme operators to promote improved RMI sector standards, and tackle related issues such as better enforcement. All of these scheme operators are audited annually by TrustMark, to ensure processes, standards and complaint procedures are being maintained.

The Marshalls Register of Approved Contractors

Marshalls are one of the leading paving suppliers in the UK and have been operating an Approved Installer network for several years

The Gardenmakers were accepted onto the Marshalls Register at the start of 2012

The Marshalls Register of Approved Landscape Contractors and Driveway Installers is a national network of recommended professionals. Although they are not employed by Marshalls, they agree to abide by Marshalls own installation guidelines and are all vetted by Marshalls assessors.

The Horticultural Trades Association

Established in 1899 at the Crystal Palace by 60 like-minded horticulturists, the HTA has, for over 100 years, promoted the interests of its members and the industry at large.  A cost-effective and comprehensive range of business support and development initiatives are available to individual members.  To the membership as a whole, HTA provides a vital forum for identifying and dealing with key garden industry issues and opportunities, represents industry views to Government and is its voice in the media.

HTA also operates a number of groups that represent the particular interests of specialist areas with the industry. These include the Association of Professional Landscapers, the HTA British Roses Group, the Association of Liner Producers, the Association of British Conifer Growers, the Growing Media Association, the HTA Tree and Hedging Group and the newly formed HTA Bedding Plant Group.

The HTA is run by the industry, for the industry with volunteers from members and a full time staff under the Director General based at Theale, Berkshire. It is a non-profit making organisation which ploughs back surplus revenue to help develop new services for its members and keep subscriptions to a minimum.
